The view from Tramway and Montgomery was great!

DSCN0364.JPG

We had a GREAT view of The Crest covered in ice and sparkling in the sun as the clouds burned off the Sandias.

We had 10 people show up Tramway and Montgomery for a nice run along Tramway. The group had a nice chat at Starbucks afterwards.

What? Doesn't everyone wear a turkey hat on the day before Thanksgiving?

DSCN0352.JPG

We had a great group for the pre-Thanksgiving Academy run. In spite of the fact that many people were running one of the Thanksgiving Day races we still had a good crowd for a jaunt around the Academy on a perfect evening for running.

Twelve of us showed up at Starbucks at 6:00. As it turns out, Julie and Joni had started a little bit early and met us after they finished their run so we ended up with 14 runners.

Kim Jeffries shows off her very cool t-shirt and medal from the Philadelpia Marathon where she finished in an excellent time of 4:38.

Track 11/24/08

Downhill Repeats

This workout should really be called "downhill repeats". It sounds a lot better than "hill repeats" and is not really false advertising. Think about it. For every uphill that we ran there was a downhill that we jogged. So, technically, we did as many downhill repeats as uphill repeats. And we had a lot of fun doing it.

This was the reward after the workout. These two homemade pizzas and some hot, delicious soup, salad and homemade french bread.

Look how happy these runners are during the warm-up.

Deana and Ron motor up one of the hills. Notice Deana's excellent, very bright headlamp.

Cathy and Rod share a joke, or was it the story about the guy with the extraordinarily large...

Just hanging out after dinner.

I said there might be prizes. Deana got the prize for being the first to arrive. A set of two Dallas Cowboys beer glasses.

The prize for last to arrive went to Dana who arrived just as we were leaving the driveway to start the workout. Dana got the same set of two beer glasses, but she left before I remembered to award the prizes.

Dana, I'll bring them next week to track or the Academy.

Diane collected her prize from the pace game we did at track two weeks ago, a set of 6 ceramic beer mugs.

Many thanks to Brigitte and Cathy for setting up the food while the group was out doing the workout.

All in all it was a fun evening. We got to do something different and *everybody* who did the workout stayed for dinner.

Just to Whet Your Appetite

This is the practice pizza that I used to test being able to make the pizza dough the day before and store it in the refrigerator overnight. It looks like it worked quite well. It's in the oven baking as I write this and the whole house smells heavenly.

Update (10:15 PM)
The pizza was, indeed, a success. Monday night's renditions should be fabulous. The dough has risen and is resting comfortably in the refrigerator. There's also a freshly baked loaf of French bread cooling it's heels on the counter waiting patiently to be consumed tomorrow night.

Academy 11-19-08

We had a little bit of a small group considering the spectacular weather.

Beth leads Diane and Jane along Wyoming

Brigitte, Ron and Steve wait patiently for the rest of the group to finish

Kim and Diane finish up

Kim and Diane 2

The group enjoys a beverage afterwards at Starbucks

Lori regales me with tales of her exploits in San Antonio (or she's giving me grief about getting PT for my shoulder, it's hard to tell which)

Apparently, there's been some complaints about me never being in the pictures. So here you go.

Deana the FHM

FREE FOOD!

Don't forget, this coming Monday, November 24th, track is going to be at my house. We're doing EASY hill repeats (this will be fun, I have a plan) followed by homemade pizza, soup and salad at the house. The only thing you need to bring besides yourself is any alcoholic beverages you'd like to drink with dinner. I've got the rest covered.

And, you never know, there could be prizes!

Our house is at 14339 Camino del Rey NE (east of Tramway and Copper)

Call me at 321-6375 if you get lost or need help finding the house.
